No Mow May - a blossoming haven for pollinators

No Mow May is a citizen science event held every year by Plantlife, encouraging people to keep the lawnmower in the shed for the whole of May and enjoy the blossoming and buzzing results.

Wildflowers are a crucial source of pollen and nectar for pollinators, which are in turn irreplaceable in our ecosystems as well as food production. Therefore, a wild lawn is the perfect opportunity to help the environment and enjoy the process of watching flowers grow and attract wildlife.

If you have a wildflower lawn or meadow nearby, why not go there to celebrate the growth and take part in citizen science? You can record the variety of flowers you see in a square metre, which will inform the bigger picture across the country.
