Antarctica is not only a place where cute penguins live. This larger than Europe continent is a crucial place considering climate change and marine biodiversity loss. As the British Antarctic Survey reports, the Antarctic Peninsula has been one of the most rapidly warming parts of the planet, which is causing changes to the physical and living environment of Antarctica and affects other parts of the world.

Learning about Antarctica is important because it enables scientists to predict more accurately future climate change and provide information to politicians and policy makers.

Luckily, Oddizzi and the 2041 Foundation have created great resources for pupils, teachers, and whole schools to join their special mission — to become Champions of Antarctica and a 2041 School!

Their FREE learning pack aims to to educate, inspire and excite children about Antarctica and create the champions and protectors of the future. The pack includes lesson plans for KS1 (5-7) and KS2 (7-11), resources and links to eight films about the importance of Antarctica, what it’s like to visit, why the date 2041 is so important – and what to do to protect it.
