Destination STEM, the new initiative from STEM Learning UK to bring more STEM opportunities directly to young people to support them on their journey, are running a 'Sustainability for a Greener World' Week 1st-5th July, appropriate for students aged 11-18 across UK schools, colleges, sixth form centres and universities.
The week will follow a set schedule every day and cover a different topic, as follows:
Monday 01, Sustainable Environment – reducing carbon emissions, eco-friendly buildings, environmental study and supporting environmental recovery, restoring natural resource environments, ecological agriculture etc.
Tuesday 02, Sustainable Engineering – Food production and preservation, Housing and shelter, Waste disposal and management, Pollution reduction, Space led innovation, Water supplies, Transportation, Improvements in industrial processes etc.
Wednesday 03, Sustainable Technology – innovative solutions to environmental challenges, optimising the use of resources and reducing greenhouse gases, Earth observation, use of big data etc.
Thursday 04, Sustainable Energy - energy reduction, workplace and building management, transition to net zero, transport, eco-friendly power and energy systems, etc.
Friday 05, Sustainable Economy - work-place transformation, circular economy, sustainable supply chains, recycle-reuse-reduce, repurposing of materials etc.
