While spring is now in full swing, a busy Tiny Forest planting season comes to an end. Thank you to all the community volunteers and our wonderful partners who helped us plant 48 new Tiny Forests! Read on to hear about a very special planting day in north London.

A record planting day to remember...

On 26 March, in partnership with Barnet Council and local tech firm Pure Data Centres, we brought together hundreds of volunteers, including local schoolchildren, to plant 1,800 trees – creating three new Tiny Forests in Finchley, London Borough of Barnet. With a different planting system used for each forest, this will be a living laboratory to explore soil health and tree growth. A path links the new forests to one of our existing Tiny Forests and a wildlflower meadow.

"The three new Tiny Forests will add to our growing number of Nature in Cities solutions in north London, helping to create greener, healthier cities and improve access to nature-rich spaces for local communities.” Hannah Davidson, Senior Programme Manager

With nearly 300 Tiny Forests planted across the UK and Ireland, we need citizen scientists like you to help us better understand how those urban green spaces benefit people and the environment. The next chance to support our research and connect with nature is the Tiny Forest Wildlife Count... coming up at the end of May!
